October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Most women are keenly aware of breast cancer, as we are told to get yearly screenings. Many of us have received this scary diagnosis. I have friends and close relatives who have experienced the anxiety that goes along with receiving scary health news.

Emotions and Breast Cancer?

But did you know that your emotional and mental health have an impact on eventually developing cancer?

That’s because our bodies were created to function as a whole! Our physical and emotional systems are working as one. We are body and soul working as one.

Breast cancer can be an imbalance in the heart chakra. According to Darren Starwynn, OMD, LAC, traditional Chinese medicine says that the emotional issue related to breast cancer could be issues with nurturing, not giving or receiving enough, or betrayal. There are spiritual causes behind breast cancer such as unresolved conflict and bitterness, especially with another female who is a close relative.

Are you being treated for breast cancer, or have you been treated for breast cancer in the past? Has anyone suggested you look at your past or present stress and heal from those as well? A large piece of the healing process must include BOTH physical and emotional healing. You cannot ignore your emotions when trying to heal from a physical illness. You will not effectively heal physically in the long term.

In addition, if you have been recently diagnosed, that would be a new trauma situation causing more imbalance to your body and emotions. The physical effects of current stress and trauma on the body build upon past stress that has been stored in your nervous system.

A large piece of the healing process MUST include BOTH physical and emotional healing.
